I know.

It only makes sense if using a larger than FF sensor - but then what will 
the cost be.... 

Or would you be happy with a 36mm x 13mm sensor (and a new set of lenses) ;-)

If I know anything at all, I know shooting XPan AND the M9 :-).

2/3 of 24x66mm is 1056mm, which is bigger than the full frame 35mm AND it
will be the right ratio. Cropping an M9 image will NOT be the same. I have
done it.

Cropping a P30 image (30 MP) will almost work, but this still has more real
estate.

And real estate does make a difference.
