Car insurance is hugely effected by the driver's age and sex. My sportscar costs ?600 per year (I am 61), a 22 year old graduate recently told me his old 1000cc car, which he bought for ?300, costs over ?1000 per year to insure. Road tax varies depending on carbon emissions, a new Prius it is free, the top rate is ?475. Fuel is ?1.40 per litre (about US$2.20 per litre or US$9.24 per Imperial Gallon) Most roads are free, there are a handful of toll bridges and roads. Parking in Oxford costs about ?4.00 per hour (US$6.30) Life isn't cheap here either... cheers, Frank On 23 Mar, 2012, at 03:04, Joseph Low wrote: > Hi Jayanand > > Thanks for highlighting Singapore - but what you should also know : > > - we have the most expensive car ownership scheme in Singapore - right now > A Certificate of Ownership for 1600cc cars cost US$61,500.00 > > - Car insurance for a 1600cc model is Us$923.00 per year > > - Road Tax US$1308.00 per year > > - Gas is US$1.73 / litre > > - on top of these we pay Electronic Road Pricing entry of US$1.15 to 2.30 > per entry > > - Parking in the CBD ranges from US$3.08 to Us$5.38 per hour > > Life is not cheap > > Joseph in Singapore
