I have the slotted battery covers on my M6... they work fine.
If the issue is some form of stickiness, try a bit of.. nose grease.. as a
lubricant.... That will give you some degree of lubrication.

I do clean the battery opening and cover off, and the camera isn't caked in
dirt and glue or anything like that. It seems to almost fuse itself into
place over short periods of time.
