I just Googled 'lightroom catalog multiple computers' and got about
32,900 results in 0.18 seconds, including this:

Personally, I run the latest LR on my iMac but keep my images and
catalog on an external hard drive from OWC:
http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB

I also backup both image files and the catalog to multiple additional
drives stored in various places.

However, I have learned that everyone's setup is a little bit
different so I always advise looking for how many others do it and
then adapt the method that seems best for you.
