The deal is that, like any restaurant, those on a cruise ship make the 
profit on drink sales. 
My experience is that there are many well placed watering holes on a cruise 
ship, and while the food is mostly part of the price you pay for the cruise, 
ALL drinks, including sodas are at retail.
 
I had a truly great martini on the cruise!

I'd go again in a minute on a Norwegian  cruise line. Terrific food

Any drink you want seems available ... You just can't bring it with you.
