I have been a volunteer at the Computer History Museum, 1401 N. Shoreline Dr. in Mountain View since 2003. The Museum is open 9 to 5 from Wednesday through Sunday. It has the largest collection of computer artifacts in the world, and almost exactly a year ago, it opened an awesome 20 million buck exhibit that was years in the planning and almost a year in execution. I regularly work there on Saturdays, participating in a 45-minute lecture/demo of the Babbage Difference Engine starting at precisely 1:15. Alternate Saturdays, I also give a tour of the exhibit lasting between 45 min and one hour. If any local LUGers are interested in a private tour, send me an email. I would be happy also, if I don't have a conflict to accommodate friends on a day other than Saturday, but afternoon please--I've stopped being morning person (and the hell with sunrise photography}. Also, if it's not more than three people at a time, I believe I can comp them in, saving them fifteen bucks admission. -- Herbert Kanner kanner at acm.org 650-326-8204 Question authority and the authorities will question you.
