Thanks for those who commented, after further tests I can see that the
camera has started back focussing. So in January I shall send it half way
around the world to be sorted....

I dropped my (lightly padded) camera bag recently (shoulder height to
concrete), I think the M9 landed on its back as the thumbie was chipped.
Would that affect sharpness somehow? I have taken some shots with 28mm
Summicron and 50mm Summilux asph and they do not have that really sharp bite
I expect, I have done test shots at infinity and they are sharper than most
lenses can manage but still not quite what I would expect. Things
photographed closer do not look sharp but I do not see a moved plane of
focus....
