For example, my 50 Summicron has the digits 22 inscribed to the right of the 'm' for meter inscription. That means they reckon my copy of that lens is a 52.2 mm. I don't know how they indicate if the lens is shorter than the designated focal length. Anyone know? Or did they always vary on the side of slightly increased, rather than decreased focal length? Anyway, knowing more about this might help you to decide to tell the M9 you are using a 35 'Cron (non-Asph) or a 50 'Cron. All the best, Peter
