Yes indeed - even at 6' 4"
I found it very helpful to have a "light" step stool
as part of the view camera kit
(and often a "not so light" step ladder)

We have a tendency to set up a view camera
to stand comfortably behind it;
and then even find ourselves racking up a center column a bit.

Working under the black focusing cloth
is another way of working and thinking
even when the basic kit can be called tiny.

You may want to consider mounting levels
on the side, and back, of the camera
to avoid the "can't see the top" eventuality
(which will occur again ;~).
