one is over 80. I am scheduled to get some new glasses in a couple of
weeks. Hopefully, they will assist my ageing eyes in the focus department.

Hi Jim,

I'm sure the new glasses will be a bonus plus. . Particularly when you are
shooting manual.

I have no problem with my M cameras focusing at anytime. Even in the dimmest
lighting..... I just look for a highlight.... preferably on the subjects
eyes or forehead, nose..... CLICK! "

That's with or without glasses.

But the little by little site loss of the good eye, I have no hesitation
about using auto focus with the digital SLR! I control the auto focus by a
series of very quick light touches to the shutter release making the little
red square indicating the camera/lens is in focus and it's "CLICK!" So far
I've had great success and it allows me to shoot faster as things happen
with the subject. Particularly if the subject is moving.

In any event I wish you all the best with the new eye tests and glasses as
I'm sure it will make a major difference!

cheers,
ted
