My experience jives with Rei's. Don't trust any battery that's less than 50%
full. Always bring a spare in that cases.

And yes, I only use gen-u-wine leica batteries. I have 3 batteries each for
the 3 digital systems I use. Peace of mind is worth a lot more than those
batteries cost...
