Since oaks are not the most common trees in Palo Alto, I did not realize until I saw a picture in today's paper that all oaks tend to look tortured. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/herbk1/Tortured+Tree.jpg.html I've passed this psychedelic car many times, but never thought to photograph it. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/herbk1/Car+on+Drugs.jpg.html A bit further on was an interesting group of birch trees. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/herbk1/Stand+of+Birch.jpg.html - - - - - Nice pictures. Oaks and maples are the most common trees in my area (the Hudson Valley) and usually grow straight and tall. The oaks and maples practice chemical warfare. Their dropped leaves are quite acid and inhibit the growth of other trees. In the time that we have lived in our house we have lost most hickory trees, most tulip trees, hemlocks, and dogwoods. The changing climate has induced the birches to migrate north to Canada. The car is certainly one of a kind. Did Maaco paint it? Larry Z
