It is a Fuji through and through regardless of the red dot. The Fuji Digiluxes were not the most reliable of cameras. The internal computer seemed to be possessed of an internal demon which would cause it to shut down at random intervals. The only way to fix it was to remove the battery and let the camera sit for a day or two until all internal charges had dissipated. This would reboot the computer. Install a freshly charged battery and the camera would probably start right up. Give it a try. It's a lot cheaper than postage. Larry Z
