If it were me, I'd do a fake HDR, and make one Lightroom exposure image for
the center, and another for the outer parts. I'd layer them and erase the
dark part in Photoshop. Two minutes.
Incident readings are great, and if I were shooting transparency film where
exposure have next to no latitude that's all I would use. But my Spectra
sits in my drawer, unused for maybe ten years.
Phil, however, is shooting raw and has maybe six stops to work with.
I'm shooting most M8 work with a 21 now, and I really like the output. I
use the "footstep zoom" technique, and it really works. I keep my 75 handy
though.
