To get an idea, the Educator price is a 25% discount from retail. To get that price you must qualify..... but it ain't THAT hard to do. So if you want a M9, you could get a used one, but what would you pay for not having a warranty.... compared to a new one at a 25% discount ( and some aggravation/education)? 40%? 50%? 60% Off retail? Used M8's tanked in price due to the sensor size, as many wanted, and had the resources to buy a 24x36 sensor based camera.....and of course, the M8.2 perceived increased value. If an M10 were to have the same SIZED sensor as an M9, IOW, 24x36mm, then the price drop might be smaller than the M8 to M9 price difference is currently.... BTW, that difference is M8 used price * 3+ = New Retail M9 price. Quite a bargain.... The other issue is the price of a new M10..... Leica has ramped up the price of lenses like crazy ( Yes, I realize some of that is due to the Dollar to Euro exchange rate.... but not all of it... see the Noctilux pricing for example). It has driven UP the price of used lenses, even recent ones.... Ditto what will happen with the M9 price when the M10 comes out..... If the M10 were $10K ( "only" a 30% lift over the current M9 price), and I could really believe that it might be that high, then the price of a used M9 will stay higher, longer....... All of this depends on features offered on the M10..... and their inherent or perceived value.... BTW, a used M8.2 was offered on this list for $2600.......about 1/2 the price of an educator discount new M9...... Yes, the M9 will go down in price on the used market.... but how much and how fast remain to be seen...... Frank Filippone Red735i at earthlink.net
