Some photos posted on the internet may indeed be free. The terms of service
of many web sites give the site owner and his assigns a perpetual license to
use the image in any way they see fit. AOL. in particular, has such a
provision in its terms of service. Also, photos entered in contests
generally give the contest sponsor rights to use the photo. Check the terms
of service and the contest rules before submitting anything to a web site.

It's a jungle out there.
