Philip had already been to Grand Isle, and I had heard BP was setting up "Community Centers" in Lafitte since oil had been reported now in Barataria Bay. Lafitte is the last town before you reach the bay, and one of the largest Shrimping boat towns in Louisiana. No one was really around, most likely either due to the heat or some folks may have been working at the spill site but we still drove around and captured a few images. Brand new oil booms sat at the end of Lafitte next to Tidewater Marine, a huge world wide company that supplies oil companies with shipping, personnel, and other marine functions. they have an office in NOLA as well. One boat did have fresh oil residue on it. Afterwards we spent some sweating time in Jean Lafitte National Park being eaten by bugs and looking for gators. This is the same notorious park that Kyle Cassidy was violently kicked out of during his last NOLA trip. Seems park rangers don't take kindly to white dresses and long haired hippies in swamps pretending they are not professional photographers. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/zoeica/Lafitte/ Chris Williams www.zoeicaimages.net www.rebirthworkshops.com 504-231-6261
