The M8 and M8.2 are basically not a different camera, only the M8.2 has a few differences.....none of which I thought were worth much.... YMMV. The M8 is now selling for around $2500-3000. New or demo or used. I do not covet a M8.2 more than an M8. To me, the M8.2 is not significantly different to be worth anything more..... So I compare the M8 to the M9.... and yes, It might be worth another $1500..... more than a current M8.....for the FF sensor, But another $4.5K?????? Not to me..... As I said, the difference in cash would buy (just about) you a 21or 24 Summilux..... Frank Filippone red735i at earthlink.net That's the wrong line of thing. Think M9 as $1500 over the price of then new M8.2. Clearly, the improvement from M8.2 -> M9 is worth that much. Nikon D700->D3, Canon 5DII ->IDs all carry higher premium so Leica is doing pretty well there. Now the question is what should a then new M8.2 be $5500? The answer is the new MP and M7 are $4500.... so the $1000 is, once again, not bad. So why should a new M7/MP be $4500? Because they take Leica lens, and if you like rangefinder, what choices are there? (this is a rhetorical question, I know about the Bessa and the ZM...) Right now M9 has a backlog of 3-6 months (!) I suspect a good number will go on the used market in ~2 months. My guess is that by Sept 09, 2010, you can pick up a used M9 for $5500.
