Ah yes, the magic of moving money through electrons.

When I was in college, first you had to get your nerve up, then write the
letter, then wait and hope the old man would fall for the story for extra
cash.

Reminds me of a telegram joke from those days:

"Dear Dad,  No Mon, No Fun, Your Son." Stop

To which the student receives the following reply:

"Too Bad, so sad, Your Dad."  Stop
