Of course there is a great deal more to IQ than the sensor's photosites' size and density. The physical dimensions and pixel count of the X1 and the D300 are similar and the source is reportedly the same. From my limited shooting of the X1 at low ISO in bright window light, its IQ is excellent. Shooting in the same light with the same unscientific methods, The S2 with its 'puny' smaller photosites has jawdropping IQ Cheers Geoff http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman On 3 March 2010 01:18, George Lottermoser <imagist3 at mac.com> wrote: > Brief (perhaps inaccurate) research indicates > the D300 has a 5.49 - 5.54 size pixel > while > the x1 has a 6.8 size pixel > > > Regards, > George Lottermoser > george at imagist.com > http://www.imagist.com > http://www.imagist.com/blog > http://www.linkedin.com/in/imagist > > On Mar 2, 2010, at 1:01 AM, Geoff Hopkinson wrote: > > The X1's (Sony) sensor is similar to if not identical to that in the Nikon >> D300 >> >> >> Cheers >> Geoff >> http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman >> >
