This is the general area, it is very close to a large reservoir, very popular with Kabul locals. This must be stunning in summer, but quite spectacular in winter as well. The air is clean, and the water pure: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01163.jpg.html > Here I am having a bit of fun with the lunch guests: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01169.jpg.html > Before lunch a bowl is brought round for us to wash hands - water only: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01159.jpg.html > I don't know what this young fellow had been doing, but his hand was orange: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01157.jpg.html > Bread is served first, everybody tucks in: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01160.jpg.html > The meal is lamb, braised and stewed, and BBQed, with bread, yoghurt, and soft drinks .... everyone eats with their right hand, using the bread to break up the meat and place in mouth ..... I really have a difficult time with this because, first of all, I cannot sit cross legged and lean over the plate, so I make a mess, better with a spoon: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01161.jpg.html > After lunch, we went visiting .... these children were playing in the street, same across the world: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01172.jpg.html > This is a local street in this subdivision, it is actually in much better shape than many other roads in the area. They don't put a proper base or use asphalt ....... nor does anybody seem to do maintenance: <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Afghanistan/countryhouse/DSC01173.jpg.html > Thank you for looking C&Cs always welcome Hugh
