The draconian measure is a fairly ineffective response to a problem that is not being addressed by all necessary means. Tourist dollars will not be a major factor in changing policy unless there are verifiable connection. I just went through the LAX, and it's a zoo compare to PDX, SEA, YVR, SFO, SJC, or PHL, the last airports I flew through in the last 6 months. Not sure if it is always this bad. They did handcheck my film thougbh (wheee...). Of course I thank them profusely.
