Always thought of it as a great "left over" staple. Always stored left over rice in refrigerator. Have reused the rice for days after initial preparation. Reheated it. Fried it. and As a child (and occasionally as an adult) ate it cold with milk and brown sugar as a breakfast cereal. Never been sick after eating "left over" rice - even a week old.
