the one, and apparently ONLY statue of charles dickens is in philadelphia -- 
it was made before he made an impassioned plea that no statues ever be made 
of him. that's little nell reaching up to him. periodically the fraternities 
at one of the multiple colleges surrounding the park dress the statues up 
with varying degrees of propriety (mostly tasteful believe it or not, nell 
is often reverently adorned in a wreath of flowers).
