At full aperture the f/6.8 Telyts are slow enough, and sharp enough, that I 
rarely stop them down at all.  In bright sunlight where I have shutter speed 
to spare I'll occasionally stop them down to f/8 or so and in that case I 
focus at working aperture.  I agree they're the prefect candidates for 
conversion to other mounts.
