The hard drive failed on a Thursday (first such failure ever on the dozen or so Macs in the family). I took the machine to the Apple repair depot on Friday and the I Mac with a new (free of charge Apple Care) hard drive was delivered to my house on Monday morning. Point is YMMV depending on where you are. And perhaps neither of our service experiences should be taken as the norm. Cheers Howard
