I have a whole range of lenses so a lens I'd have gotten to use for large
format I'd use for 35mm if I'm making a very small print to give myself the
best comfortable space and also a good deal optically.
But when I'd make a 16x20 or 20x24 and dropping the enlarging bed to a lower
shelf I'd use a lens which just covers the neg. you need to be able to grab
the focus with one hand and look through the grain magnifier with the other.
I mean your eye.
Actually an 80 is not supposed to cover 6x7 unless you have some special
wide angle deal. One of those newer very high end ones.
So don't "trade" in your 80 f0r a 105 you'll need them both.
And enlarging lenes costing many hundreds are given way for almost free
every day. You get them used. They are glad they don't have to pay the
garbage man to throw them away. Take up precious land fill.
Get a Viso and bellows and use them with your M9.

I have Nikkor enlarging lenes but if it was not I'd get Schneider or
Rodenstock. Its an enlarging lens buyers dream heaven.
And the lens is by far the most important part of your darkroom.
Doesn't matter which camera or camera lens you use.
It all goes through those enlarging lenes.

What size is your standard size print?
