You meter is going to want to over expose your cats as they are not gray they are black. So you'll have to give them less exposure till it looks right. Right at the threshold is where you'll want to place them. Some areas on them will be black with no detail perhaps that looks normal usually in a print. If your meter says 8 give it 11 or 17. Or just set the over ride to a stop and a half under if your shootin at A or P. If you're shooting digital then you can do trial and error till you get it by looking at the image at the back and the histogram. Mark William Rabiner
