Lack of auto diaphragm doesn't bother me as I mostly shoot wide open and with visual focus confirmation (but no "beep") my D700 focuses the Leica glass very well. I set maximum auto ISO at 6400, minimum shutter speed at 1/125 and set the camera on Aperture preferred and just go out and shoot. The results have been, for me at least, very satisfying and mean that my Leica R lenses are not languishing in the back of the dry box. Since the bayonet change is reversible should Leica ever come out with a digital platform that is at least equal to the performance of the D700 and that I can afford (I'm doubtful on both counts) then I can put the R bayonets back on and away I will go. For now, though, I am grateful to Mr. Lladro and Leitax for the opportunity to continue to use my Leica R glass. See <leitax.com> for details.
