Hi George,
Same here. And rarely does anything happen! However?
Take two steps out of the house without it within reach and all kinds of 
things happen.
I look across the front yard and standing there eating my garden to ruin are 
a couple of fawns and the mother doe! I rush back in the house, grab camera 
turning on and almost to eye in one motion.
Look for deer? GONE! damn!

With film M's I always had one loaded near by. Digital M8 it's just turn it 
on, but once I have it on my shoulder I never turn it off. yep battery goes 
a little quicker but I always have a second battery in a pocket along with a 
couple of cards. The cards sure beat the hell out of extra rolls of film in 
the good old days! :-)
