Thanks for all the advice....
I took Nathan's advice and "fixed" the problem with a new, screw on hood.
I like simple solutions.
PS: for those with a 12586 hood, yes, mine does come apart......and it does
have threads for a filter.... in the outer part. Looks like E46, but I am
not sure.
