Subject: [Leica] Please take action to protect photographers' rights in the UK.

The 2000 Terrorism Act gives police sweeping powers of investigation
and arrest in the belief that such measures will help to contain
terrorism. This exceptionally badly drafted and broad-ranging piece
of legislation allows police to prevent photography in public places
and to arrest anyone they suspect of using photography for the
purposes of perpetrating terrorism no matter how scant the evidence.
These powers have been widely abused and have led to the arrest and
detention of professional and amateur photographers for nothing more
than photography in a public place. The British Journal of
Photography has launched a campaign to highlight the problem and to
help to force change.

If you are a photographer in the UK or ever visit here and take
photographs, your liberty could be at risk for pursuing your hobby or
profession. Please visit
http://www.bjp-online.com/public/showPage.html?page=865556
for details of the campaign. If you subscribe to any other mailing
list or newsgroup, please consider forwarding this message to them.
