This is the area where the ancient trading route from Tibet to the India passes through, from the Hindu valley of Kulu/Manali, over the 4000m Rohtang pass into the Buddhist valley of Spiti, leading to Ladakh, and Tibet beyond. This city is in the same general area where the Dalai Lama stays in exile. It is incredibly popular as a summer tourist spot for anyone who wants to escape the summer heat in India, with the added advantage that you can see ice and snow at the Rohtang pass, a short drive away, a rarity for the large majority of the population of India. Anyway, the first set of photographs, all taken in Manali town are here: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/Manali/ Comments and criticism always welcome. Cheers Jayanand
