For the cost of going there and taking the seminar, for 2 people, you could have bought an M8, or other, and "shot your brains out". I have taken a few seminars, and my experience, though it had nothing to do with Ted, Tina, or Leica, is that they are not nearly as personally helpful as billed. I would have done better in actually using the money to take more pictures by going other places, seeing new things, or just plain buying more film and shooting in my own back yard.<<<<<<<<<<<< Hi Frank, Well how about a test then? I bet if you come to this one it will be one of the best picture taking information learning fun events you've ever attended. I've out of curiosity taken a few seminars just for the experience to see what it was like. Yep you are correct about a couple of them, I'd have been far better off flying to Africa and taking a walk in the jungle! One was so filled with babble fish photo nonsense I said I'd never go to another if it meant my life. 15 years ago when Leica and Carl Derderian asked me to be the headliner for the Leica Seminar, I wasn't a rookie speaker and presenter. I had already given lectures many times at the local Photo Academy, as well as professional groups across Canada, along with ten years at Carleton University School of Journalism . "An Appreciation of Photojournalism & Light use." So I knew how the Lecia Seminar wasn't going to be! I did it my way, humbly with the experience of assignments and real life, not repeating something read in a book. That's why this one is so well attended each year by people who've come back each year. Along with Tina, a first class speaker and presenter of her subjects. The other speakers this is all out learning in a great fun filled atmosphere! You will learn. And you will go home fully motivated to get out and shoot. The price? It's negligible for the amount of rejuvenation and motivation you will go home with! Oh and an M8 purchase? You can do that at the Seminar as well! :-) So come along and kill two birds with one event! :-) Cheers, ted
