The number of people using it has. A lot of people have given it up, for obvious reasons. I'm glad that I grew up in an age when cameras like the AE-1 ruled. If I were getting into photography today I never would have been exposed to film. In fact, I can't seem to let go of film. I've decided to skip flat digital craze and not buy into change until holography becomes main stream. With holography I won't merely have to decide whether something looks better in bw or color, I'll have to decide what viewing angle is best. The possibilities are infinite (which, now that I think of it, just takes me back to analog)! Speaking of holography, how much do you think the M18h will cost? :-) DaveR -----Original Message----- From: Jim Shulman [mailto:jshul at comcast.net] Sent: Tuesday, May 05, 2009 10:37 PM To: 'Leica Users Group' Subject: Re: [Leica] How things change The other day I noticed a box marked "Antique Camera" at a local house sale. It was a pristine Canon AE-1. I'm ready for my walker and respirator. If you know of anyone who would make use of this antiquated equipment, please let me know. At the first couple of international conferences I spoke at, about 10-12 years ago, I had PowerPoint presentations made into physical slides at the uni photo lab. At the conferences these slides were projected as I spoke. Obsolete I can understand, but it's interesting the short space of time someone is willing to regard as 'antiquated'. My Leica slide projector still gets used, although I must admit to taking almost all of my colour shots with my M8 since I got it in 2006. Marty
