If you want to code your lens, and still feel like $175 ( or more)  is out
of the question.,
John Milich will machine out your old lens mount with the "indents" for the
coding.  You apply a bit of black paint/ink and Bob's your Uncle.

I understand that John charges about $25 a mount for the service.   

I have not used his service, nor do I own an M8.... this is from others'
recommendation.....

BTW, I thought that the lack of physical coding of the lens could be
overcome by using the user menu in the camera.... Is this wrong ?
