Doug Herr commented recently on a monopod that he uses ......  it was a
Bogen with twist lock legs.  You might want to look it up on the archives.
I think it was the model 3018


I have the Gitzo  with the regular Gitzo models with the twist leg.  The
twist locks are significantly faster to use than the leg twists.... and seem
as stable.

I am not fond of the trigger grip  tops... best to get a ball head ......

Sturdy and tough enough are givens......
