I bought my first Leica in 1954 in the PX when I was stationed at the US
Army Pictorial Center Europe. I think it was a IIIf with a collapsible 50mm
lens; the price was about $100. I regret selling it a few years later when I
was a starving student on the GI Bill with a family to support.
