Many thanks to all who on or off list commented and gave advice on this 
experiment.
I'll try to stitch before anything else as suggested, and I'm looking 
for a device to adjust the camera on a tripod that allows for fine 
centering of the focal point of the lens. Any suggestion welcome of course.
