I have a Voigtlander 90mm lens that has once or twice been seen as a 21mm lens by the camera, with resulting colour shifts towards the edges of the frame. Also a screw in the right place can fool the M8 into thinking a certain lens is mounted. So it's to do with lens detection and incorrect processing rather than with breaking the camera.
