I first came to Greenwich in about 1980 when Island Gardens was a wasteland. As I recall it was hard to find the entrance to the tunnel because everything was so overgrown. It had a lovely secret air to it. I moved here in 1994 and really enjoy it. Greenwich still retains some of that secret feeling, especially on a weekday in winter, like today. It's a very enjoyable place to live. I don't think I know Campbell Road, but I'm reasonably familiar with that part of the East End. In the 80s my girlfriend lived near Victoria Park, on the side near Campbell Road, so I got to know the area. Even now I cycle that way along the canal from Limehouse Cut quite often.
