Subject: [Leica] Some thoughts on 100 years of Leica

Hi to all,

I gave my son his first big boy camera for Christmas this year. It was a
Nikon D60 which was very appropriate for his photographic talents to
develop. He was looking at some lenses and he was astounded that they cost
more than the camera body. I had to point out to him that we own the lenses
forever, it's the camera body that goes out of production. I have lenses
that I used on my Nikon F purchased in 1969 that work on my Nikon D3 today,
albeit without auto focus and auto exposure. For the centennial, I would
vote for images from Leica glass. This would expand our family of
potential photographers who have Canon or 4/3s bodies fitted with Canon
Glass. I think that it is a tribute to Leica's optical prowess to see the
lengths photographers go to put that glass on modern digital bodies. It is
the Leica glass that is enduring. That's my two cents.

Regards,

Tom L
