Nathan -

Unless you have gone in and changed the preset, LR automatically 
applies sharpening to files when they are imported.  Since my stock 
agencies allow no sharpening, I've zeroed out all of the sharpening 
and noise reduction (also automatic) and saved that as a Preset that 
I named Zero.  Everything that I don't want sharpened, I import with 
the Zero preset.

I agree, though, that the M8 files are the only ones that don't need 
capture sharpening.  They are so much sharper and show so much more 
detail than my Canons that it's almost unbelievable!
