( I am an amateur, so I refer to "shoot" as one series of photographs or time.. like ....Hawaii 2008...... Point Lobos 2005... etc. and put each shoot into its own LR folder. However every computer folder has only 1 roll of film in it on the computer......Hawaii 2008 Roll 1.... Hawaii 2008 Roll 2..... etc. ) It is easier to find something of you lose track of it.... Organize any way you prefer..... but be consistent. BTW, a valid reason to use 1 big folder is if ALL your shots are digital and have EXIF data to them and as you import them to LR, you designate some pretty specific Keywords per image...... then finding a "lost" image is pretty easy...... Why bother with Raw + Jpg? Why not RAW only? What does BOTH give you that RAW alone would not? I personally could find no reason to do this.... Keep things simple.....but well organized. And no matter what some may say, go buy a book on LR2...... your questions will all be answered.... and you can PLAN how to do the work you are now doing ....... Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net OK, so may be I should reorg my folders first so that it's by years. That will just make a few folders (one per year). I will have lots of scanned pictures too, but I guess that's no problem. Sounds like I should also start using Vuescan to scan to raw. So lets say I re-org to just one folder per year, then should I have just one catalog for all the years or one catalog per year? Also should I just let it catalog the RAW and the JPGs?
