It might be useful for some circumstances to not have to make a subjective decision though. Measuring negates that. You can see what the camera interprets as correct for a jpg output on the preview screen if you want. If you look at the preview with current firmware you can see the preview change after a second or so. Note too that during the conversion the area of predicted clipping (a guideline only) can change as the WB is reset, so you are affecting the exposure to some extent. Maybe only relevant to some highlight situations? Two other thoughts. If you are doing a series in consistent light you can include a colour checker/white balance card in one shot then measure and synchronise from that in the Raw file conversions. No reason why those other tools shouldn't work, I just haven't had a need there or tried them. The current firmware for the M8 seems to work very well, and better than previous incarnations for auto decisions too. There may perhaps be a further refinement of that with the next firmware, maybe announced at Photokina? RAW. White balance doesn't matter with RAW. Your RAW file contains all of the information present when the photo was taken so you can balance after the fact when you "develop" the photo.
