I've had a lot of trouble with Western Digital the last two years and will no longer touch them. Their "Book" like disk packages have been particularly unreliable. Every single one of them that I bought (4 of them @ 360 gb, I think) quite working within 6 months. It might have been the Firewire interface giving problems, but I was justing Firewire so ... it _was_ a problem. I've had good experiences with just about all other brands: Samsung, Seagate ..., both under controlled circumstances and in environoments that are worst case scenarios (High veld Africa with thunder and lightening storms and constant uncontrolled power failures). LaCie probably just has something else under the cover. Daniel
