It's not so funny -- Asus has (have, if you're British) been a major and
respected force in motherboard design and manufacture for years. I was
buying their stuff back in the previous century. They're not (yet) as
well established in consumer products; the Eees seem to be their step
into the limelight.

And there are other brands in this "product space", as the marqueteers
would say -- including MSI, and a funny little company called HP -- they
just don't seem to be doing it quite as well yet.

Of course, it seems as if Asus got the idea from the particularly cute
OLPC XO-1. With the little ears and molded-in handle.

Although the Eee 901 is smaller. But no handle.
