Basically I agree with your constantly stressing the importance of  
real estate when it comes to film and sensors.
However, when talking about sensors/software/systems - there seem to  
be differences - as in differences in films.
So the real estate issue must be discussed as full frame ccd vs.  
smaller ccd, or full frame cmos vs. smaller cmos.
Yes! The 5D full frame cmos out performs the smaller 20D cmos.
Yet, it does not out perform the smaller ccd sensors I've used.

Imagine your Olympus Pen F is loaded with Panatomic x
and your full frame Olympus is loaded with Tri x
and both are bolted down to a solid tripod and exposing a non moving  
subject.
