Well, while I do not wish to appear to cast ANY aspersions against the Drink of Choice for the LUG, the Lagavulin, I will cheerfully admit to having tasted an occasional Guinness. The view from the top floor of their brewery at St James' Gate in Dublin is outstanding, especially so for students of Irish literary and Civil War history. I strongly recommend a visit. (I have been using a Guinness mouse pad since 2001 and it is time for me to replace it with a new one. My lust for solitaire causes me to be hell on mouse pads.) The son-in-law of the Guinness at the turn of the last century was Marconi and he funded Marconi's development of wireless. So we can praise Guinness as a drink while reacting with regret to its having brought about modern radio and televion. Marc msmall@aya.yale.edu Cha robh b?s fir gun ghr?s fir!
