The 50/1.8 lens was announced but never produced. Reportly, the lens barrels were made by Cosina in Japan with Zeiss Germany making the glass. Final assembly was done by Rollei (in Germany). The build quality is excellent and while both lenses are great picture takers (my top criteria when deciding to purchase a lens), the 80/2.8 lens is an exceptionally good image maker. > Both Sonnar HFT 40/2,8 and 80/2,8 for the Rollei RF (camera made by > > Cosina in Japan with a Leica-M mount) were engraved "Made in > Germany" > and were made by Rollei Fototechnic under licence from Carl > Zeiss, > according to "Objektive from Carl Zeiss" brochure 10-029 > d,e,f,j > W-DIV-TS-IX/2002 Roo, distributed by Zeiss during Photokina > 2002.> > I > saw them there, but I don't think they have made a lot of the 80/2,8.> > > ;-)> > http://www.adorama.com/catlite.tpl?op=large_image&sku=RLRF35.jpg> > http://www.cameraquest.com/rfren.htm> > And I also think that the Planar > HFT 50/1,8 was never released. _________________________________________________________________ Search that pays you back!
